Jaxon and I picked Tukker and Maveryk up from their house and the waiting began.
We grabbed some lunch. I stuffed them full of junk food, sugary drinks and courtesy cones. That's what Grandma's do, right?
And then we hung out there for awhile so they could work it off.
After dinner I thought we'd settle in for some snuggle time and watch a movie.
While we waited.
Unfortunately, I chose the wrong movie for quiet snuggle time. I had no idea that Tukker and Maveryk can't watch Happy Feet without dancing!
It was getting pretty late for the little people at this point. And we were still waiting for the call!
It was a strange experience for me to not be at the hospital for all this waiting. It's the first time I've not been there (At least at the hospital and sometimes in the room!) when a grandbaby was born.
Finally I got a text from Crystal with the proof that the waiting was over. He was here!
I showed the cell phone pics to Maveryk and Tukker.Tukker: "Now Mommy can pick me up?"
Maveryk: "My baby is so toot!"
YAY!! Time for bed! lol By this time all the little people were pretty much melting down.
The next morning was fun.
Lining up little colored plastic plates of food...
And bathing and dressing three little energetic kiddos...
I have to say...these 48 hours made me think often of the season of my life when I did this routine with more than one little one at a time every day.
I also thought often of the times we spent with my friend Paula and her family back then. All those lunches of hot dogs and mac n cheese lined up on colorful plates. And tossing dirty kiddos all together in the bath. Sweet memories.
We got to go see Oliver on Wednesday. I don't know who was more excited, me or Tukker and Maveryk!
There are pictures of them holding their new brother. And Jaxon held his new nephew even though he had said the day before that he doesn't like to hold new babies because "they're just too tiny". Those pictures are on Heather and David's camera.
But I did make sure to get a couple of pictures of me with my beautiful baby and her new baby. :)
I'll tell you what...if they could bottle the smell of a newborn baby's head, it would put the pharmaceutical companies out of business. It would surely cure everything.
Baby Oliver had a little breathing thing that they wanted to monitor a little longer which meant one more night at Grandma and Grandpa's house for Tukker and Maveryk. YAY!
When Grandpa got home we had some dinner and then the little ones loaded up in Jaxon's truck for a trip to the park. (I know, I know. Mav should not be riding in the cargo area. He CLEARLY weighs more than 25 pounds. Go ahead...call me the crazy Grandma. Whatever.)
We spent a little while goofing around the playground...
Action Jaxon!
Climbing Tukker!
Grandpa goofing off with Maveryk.
Emily let Dad join her in her self portrait this time.
Grandpa set up this iron man shot! Muscle man!
Em. Not too grown up to play.
After the park we trucked back home for an ice cream treat that , believe it or not, the little kids thought was too messy! ha!
We had an early bed time that night and then spent the next day, yesterday, playing around the house until it was time to pick Emily up from school and deliver Tukker and Maveryk to their house to bond with that baby brother.
I forgot to take my camera with me so I snapped a cell phone picture of Emily meeting her new nephew for the first time.
So, what did I do last night? I picked up Subway sandwiches for Roger, Emily, Jaxon and I for dinner, collapsed into that tub in the picture up there, filled it with bubbles, had a nice glass of wine and then went to bed early.I forgot to take my camera with me so I snapped a cell phone picture of Emily meeting her new nephew for the first time.
I love those kiddos like crazy cakes but the season of my life in which I manage three little people on a daily basis is clearly over. I really am a grandma.
Can't wait to see them again! :)
