I shared this picture back in June. Looking toward the north.
Our city caught fire and burned through the night last night.
Here is the view last night.
A few families have lost their homes. Hundreds were miraculously spared.
We were just at the edge of the evacuation area so we stayed home last night. But it was a restless night not knowing if we'd be told to leave.
The entire county is hard at work trying to get it put out today.
It seems most of the danger has passed.

im amazed that the firefighters did as well as they did! i kept waiting for the phone to ring all night saying to leave...i even had a bag packed with clothes and toothbrushed (that is how i think-no dirty teeth!).
Good dental hygiene can't be put aside in times of crises. ;)
Aw, how sad. What started the fire??
Oh my goodness Trish, I worried about you all night, glued to the tv. I'm glad you're ok!
The National Guard was conducting machine gun drills just over the hill. On a hot, dry, super windy day. Perhaps not their finest thinking. 10,000 acres have burned in less than 24 hours.
Trish, I thought of you all night. I was SOO glad to read PYP posts today!
Thanks friends! I'm sure it was a hundred times scarier for those actually in the evacuation area. We were just on the outside edge of it.
News reports today say that the total acres burned is only 3500. I guess that's a little better than originally estimated. But still just awful.
I'm so glad you are safe. As soon as I heard Herriman I thought of you because you are the only one I know (well sort of know, lol) that lives in Herriman.
trish,
oh my...how scary. i hope is all is quieter now. is all the fire out ?
