I hate Halloween.

There.
I said it.
Halloween goes against everything I live by on every other day of the year.
Sure it's fun to see all the little kids all excited and dressed up.
But when you look past that...
It's about spending more money on a costume than we spend on daily wear clothing.
It's about spending 20% of our grocery budget on candy.
I's about consuming copious amounts of candy.
It's about fighting with the kids over consuming copious amounts of candy.
It's about dragging tired, oversugared, overstimulated kids through the neighborhood on typically cold evenings.
Although that whole global warming "myth" seems to be working in our favor this year. Not so for the East coast.
It's about what has become our "traditional" Halloween meal of chili, corn bread and hot chocolate. None of which fall in line with our current healthy eating habits
I'd rather just let the little kids have a costume party and skip the trick or treating all together.
But I don't make the rules. I just follow them.
So I better get back to making that chili.

We totally boycotted Halloween. Put Sage to bed early, turned off the lights and disconnected the door bell.
