The Proposal

The grown kids and grandbabies were here.
Dennis and Christy were here.
We were just sitting down for family dinner last night, as we do every Tuesday night, when this guy stands up.
He's fidgeting, red in the face and barely breathing.
Next thing you know, he's putting a ring on her finger.
Just like that, they're engaged!
I hope that they will have a long, happy future together.
Richard has been good and kind to Kayleigh and to her little girls. And I know they're so excited about their own little one coming in the Fall.

I think it's sweet that there was a pre-dinner private consultation between Richard and his two soon to be Fathers-in-law. We've been through this a few times now and I'm always impressed that these guys who want to marry our daughters feel compelled to ask for the blessing of their Dad(s) even in this day and age.

And, of course, the Moms (myself and Christy) cried.
It's not a good proposal unless someone cries.

Congratulations that is so exciting! I love that you and your ex (assuming its your ex-husband..) get along. My parents are divorced, and I am so thankful they can still be "friends". That isn't always the case with divorces.

Yes Barbi, Dennis is my ex husband. He and his wife, Christy, are two of our dearest friends. Truly our family. :)
