To finish June, now that it's done.

I almost got caught up before the calendar page was turned.
Roger chose to take a drive for Father's Day. We drove up to the place where we usually camp to see how much snow was still there. The road was closed before we really got to a lot of snow, but the river sure was raging. We expected it would be.
It was a nice drive though and we stopped in Park City for some lunch at The Blue Iguana. How many times did that make for the month of June? Three?
This time doesn't count though. Blech! This was our first time eating at the Park City location and it was awful.
My beloved Amarillas mole that is always THE absolute perfect balance of creamy sweet heat when we eat at the Salt Lake location, was something like country gravy in Park City. Not that I don't like country gravy. It's great on biscuits. Not so great on my chile verde enchilada. Roger's regular menu item was a disappointment too. And the salsa had a faint soapy flavor. BLECH!!! We'll never go back to that location.
But our boy was sure cute.

Another fun thing that happened around here in June was that we "grew" some butterflies in the Butterfly Garden that the kids got for Easter.
Jaxon had fun checking on them almost every day as they made their journey from caterpillar to butterfly.

We kept them around for about a week, feeding them drops of sugar water on crumpled up napkins.
The life cycle of a butterfly is surprisingly short and I wanted to spare the kids, especially Jaxon, from seeing how it ends so we let them go in the back yard.

It took about 15 minutes for all 5 of them to finally be free. And even then they hung around the backyard for a little while so Emily and Jaxon could see them fluttering around the yard.

And then they were gone. That was a pretty fun thing to do. I'm sure we'll order more caterpillars again next year.
