Float Preview Party and 80's Movie Night

I took Emily and Jaxon and one of Emily's friends to the Days of 47 Float Preview Party.
Emily and her friend took off together to do giggly preteen girl things

while Jaxon and I checked out all the floats. After about the third float we looked at, Jaxon noticed the seat for the driver. After that it was all about finding the secret driver's seat in every float.

 Herriman was represented by several floats. At least 3 or 4.

 Jaxon called this one and the one with the big panda on it "Kung Fu Panda Floats".

 This one with the fisherman was my favorite. See the video below.

 The ones with moving parts were especially fun to see. The fisherman was the best in my opinion.

Jaxon also asked a woman in a clown costume to make a sword for him. This is HUGE. Jaxon does not like people in costumes. At. All. Unfortunately this clown didn't know how to make swords so she offered to make him a gun.
Which he immediately used to slay a dragon.

We left the float preview party and made a visit to the Sweet Tooth Fairy where we had a little treat and then brought home a baker's dozen of my little friends/enemies for later that night.

 We drove Emily's friend home in the long and winding nonsensical path that only a 12 year old who has never driven herself anywhere can lead you. Sooo glad though. If she hadn't taken us on that adventure I wouldn't have driven by this sign which made me laugh out loud. In fact, I drove back the crazy way just to get this picture.

One good reason to belong to an HOA I guess.
That night Heather put together a Mom's (myself and Christy) and Daughter's (Kayleigh, Heather, Emily)plus one brother 80's movie night.
We watched Footloose and Emily developed a little appreciation for "old guys" like Kevin Bacon.

 Heather helped Jaxon draw a seahorse which he has had proudly displayed on his bedroom wall ever since.

 Good times, and many cupcakes and other assorted junk food, were had by all.
