From time to time to time my friend, Melanie, will send me little packages. They're always packed full of fun little surprises. It's like opening a treasure chest!I found a package from her on the front porch on Friday.
Getting a fun package in the mail turns me back into a little kid. Was it like that for you? A package comes in the mail and you can't get it open fast enough! You can't wait to see what goodies are inside.
No one sends snail mail anymore, do they? So all you have to look forward to are bills and advertisements in the mailbox each day. We have so many other ways to communicate these days that we hardly bother the mailman. I'm guilty of it too. I'm blogging my "Thank You's" right now. Maybe I'll follow it up with an actual handwritten thank you card. You never know, it could happen.
Some of the treasures we found this time....
Something for Heather and Maveryk. I'll give it to you next time I see you Heather. ;)
Look at this cool ring! I don't really wear a lot of jewelry but I have been wearing more just lately. Part of my ME makeover, I guess you could say. The purple stones in this one might just be enough to set me off on a ring craze like my friend Tawnya, who seems to have a massive collection if her blog is any indication. What do you think of this one Tawnya?(Sorry about my ratty fingernails. I'll get a manicure as soon as I'm done cooking, cleaning, gardening, etc.)
And this sundress which I can totally see myself wearing out in the yard while I putter around the garden wearing a straw hat and some sandals.Or lying on a beach sipping a Mojito.
Whatever. I'm open.
Check out this cookbook! Published in 1977. I can't wait to find a way to WW-erize some of these babies!
The bottom of the box was filled with packing peanuts and Jaxon had so much fun digging through them and finding all the Matchbox car treasure. He spent the next several hours till bedtime just playing with these cars on the kitchen floor.
There was also the beanie baby seal he's holding in the picture. He picked it up and said, "What IS this?" (Emphasis on the IS. He does that lately. LOL)
I told him it was a seal.
He said, "In the ocean? In the water?"
Surprised, I asked him where he learned that seals live in the water. I don't remember us ever talking about seals in particular.
"On the TV." was his answer.
And they say TV rots kids' minds. Ha!
There were several other goodies in the box.
Including an autographed CD by Melanie's ROCK STAR hubby, Gary.
We listened to the CD while we cooked and ate dinner that night. It's good! Check it out!
Here's their video (That's Gary on the guitar!) ....
Oh! and the video was edited by their son. There's more than their fair share of talent in that family!
Thank You Melanie! We love you!!!

OH wow, what a fun package! I used to love getting those as a girl.. now I only get things from Kohls. LOL
Love the ring.. totally love Tawnya's collection too (from what I've seen). I'm trying to broaden my jewelry as well.
All the other things are so fun.. what a sweet friend to have. :o)
I love that ring! I saw one like it but pink instead of purple once and loved it! I want to find an orange one :)
How fun!! Love the cookbook. Love the ring.
Oh, hey...I need your email address to send you a blog invite. My email is on the side bar on my blog, or you can pm me!
I'm continually amazed at what my kids learn from TV, they know more exotic animals than I do thanks to Diego. Fun, fun, fun.
How fun! It looks like everyone had a blast with the goodies. :)
I'm SO JEALOUS of the signed C.D.! They rock and the music would be PERFECT for my walks.
Lol about Jaxon learning from the t.v. That's cute.
Cookbooks from years ago are awesome. I've actually been looking at some at some thrift stores and making them WW friendly. Let me know about how the recipes turn out.
The ring is really pretty. And the sun dress looks really comfortable.
That is an AWESOME ring. I've been feeling ring antsy lately. Maybe a trip to Kohl's this weekend to peek at the sale rack is in order?
(I do have a mighty stash o rings, but thankfully my habit is mostly cheap!)
Also - that floor looks like mine: cars, stuffties, little boy who will not play with cars w/o laying down!
