Oooh! Try this!

I peeled and sliced some oranges to go with the kids' breakfast this morning.
Thinking frugally, as I am these days, I didn't want to just throw the peels away. So I tossed them in a small saucepan with a cinnamon stick, a few whole cloves and just enough water to cover it all. After simmering for only 5 minutes the turkey burger smell is gone. LOL And the yummy aroma almost feels like therapy for this yucky cold.

I like to make candied orange peel with the peels. I like your idea because our house sure could use a air freshener today.

Hi Norah! Candied orange peel? Sounds interesting. I love all things citrus. What would you use it for? And how do you make it?

I would love to get some oranges just to use your idea for an air freshner lol!

I think it's awesome you're blogging about what you accomplished during your day.

I'm excited to see what you've been working so hard on crafting for Christmas.

Hope you kick your cold soon. I hate those pesky things. They always seem to get ya when you have so much stuff to do.

Love you and see you soon!

I use it several ways. One just to eat. I dip it in chocolate for chocolate orange slices. Or to garnish a cake, ice cream, or dessert that I have made. There are many possibilities. Here's the recipe I prefer:

It takes some time but they are much better than the shorter easier recipe I have.

OMG!!! Norah! Those look AMAZING! Especially the chocolate dipped ones!
I'm definitely trying that soon!

Amber~ It's one of Lily's Christmas presents. You want me to post it or do you want to wait to be surprised? :)

OK. Just went and checked out the fabulours Candied Orange Peels and now I have one question.
"Who's making the candied orange peel thingies first?" I'm just going to have my bags packed and ready.
Norah, Trish, say the word. I can be there in an hour...
Unless Amber is going to make them??

OMG, Trish, I can't believe you haven't had or made candied orange peels! YOu HAVE to try them! They are one of my favorite things! My Grandma used to make them often. We used to get them in the candy shops at Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm too. Try them, pleeze! :) xo *Mel
